A regiment that was mustered spcificly for the French & Indian war by the British was Montgomery`s 77th Highland Regiment. When the war was over it was disbanded ,some mustering out in America and some going back to Britain to muster out.
My ancestor Sargent Alexander Young mustered out here and latter was a Skeen Tennant near Skeensville [now Whitehall NY ,but then not really NY.] In 1776 he and family had to escape down Lake Champlain to Canada as Loyalists.
I have been very fortunate to find much evidence about his life because of his military involvement. As I find history of the time and gather more about the 77th regiment more evolves. I see the 77th regiment was at the battle of Fort Ticonderoga but have no further informatuion about their invovment there. Any information is appreciated.
Best wishes from Rodgers Rangers country Fay
