Thought some of you might be interested to know about a local legend. The first free black man in Hardin County, KY was called General Braddock. Supposedly he was a body servant of the British general and then possibly of Washington, but he ended up in KY as the slave of the Helm family. He won his freedom as an Indian fighter, so evidently was knowledgeable and trusted when it came to fighting. He lived out his years near Elizabethtown, KY and is portrayed in our annual "Ghostwalk" by a local man. We also have a creek named after him.
