Fourth Corporal—Enlisted in Co. B, 2nd Arkansas State Troops, at Washington, Arkansas, May 4, 1861; discharged, September 19, 1861; enlisted in Co. C, 6th Arkansas Cavalry, at Washington, Arkansas, May 15, 1862; appointed fourth corporal, May 15, 1862; wounded and captured at Fayetteville, Arkansas, April 18, 1863, and paroled at Fayetteville on April 22, 1863; promoted first corporal, June 16, 1863; “absent on account of wounds received at Fayetteville,” June 30, 1863; reduced to private, January 1, 1864; captured at Cassville, Missouri, November 1, 1864; confined at U.S. Military Prison, Rock Island, Illinois, until released on oath of allegiance on May 22, 1865; born in Tennessee, c1837; married Mary Ervin in Hempstead county, Arkansas, June 19, 1859; listed in Hempstead county 1860 census; occupation farmer; filed Federal land patent in Nevada county in 1860.
