Hello, again, Gerald Klima. I am the Lester Aaron who is a distant relative of your wife. I am the one who is descended from the William Aaron who died in 1806, and one of his sons (John Aaron, 1800--1862).

Are you interested in knowing an interesting twist in the William Aaron lineage? You may recall that the 1860 census showed that John Aaron owned 81 slaves. Well, John Aaron had a son (Bob Aaron, 1830--?) with one of his slaves. Bob Aaron had a son named Oliver Aaron (1868--1916). Oliver had a son named Herman Aaron (1905--1992). Herman Aaron had a son named Herman Aaron, Jr. (1926--2008). Herman Aaron, Jr. was my father.

Thus, my genotype is northern European male (R1b1b2), but my phenotype (appearance) is African-American. My father had blue eyes, his father had gray eyes, and my relatives described my paternal grandfather (Oliver Aaron) as having "light eyes." It is an interesting world, isn't it?

Lester, 15 July 2009
