Thanks Janet. Steve Heise has had contact also. Our family did not learn all the information until this FEB. Charles Weatherly has 2 sisters and one brother still alive. Linda Dewey at kasselmission.com is writing a book about the Kassel Mission. Her father was pilot of one of two planes that made it back to England. And he helped formed the Kassel Mission Historical Society In Charles's letters back home he praises the flying skills of Roy Bolin. If you want please call me, Don Lum, 435-820-4128. My father is 89 and was childhood friends of Charles Weatherly. My dad was Charles uncle and Pacific Theater WWII vet. My aunt and uncle saved all of Charles's war letters and a AP news article that mentions the loss of bombers over Kassel Germany. I was able to contact family members of Robert Oleson and William Aaron. These families also did not know any more than my family about the battle. The sole survivor Orland Schooley may till be alive in Florida. Thank you for responding. And they were all brave men and heroes fighting Hitlers Nazi Germany.
