Christopher Austrom was married Anne Rasmusdatter Haugros, whose parents were Rasmus and Marit Haugros. Hans Austrom was born on Aasen farm, a bruk of the Aasterud farm in Modum, Buskerud, Norway. His parents were Gudbrand Hansen Aasen (4 Aug 1792 - 21 Apr 1863) and Kari Helgesdatter Øverbye (9 Oct 1812 - 12 Oct 1886). He was born in 1835. He came to the U.S. in 1861, and immediately enlisted in the 2nd Minnesota Infantry. He later collected a Civil War Pension - Hans and Christopher actually come from a large family. There were 8 children total, 5 of whom emigrated to the U.S. They also had an uncle, called "Lyten" Ole Helgesen who emigrated to the U.S. He was called "little" Ole to differentiate him from his older brother also named Ole. We still have some tenuous contact with the descendents of the 3 children who remained in Norway, and my mother has visited the old farm in Norway. I have some parts of Hans' pedigree back as far as 1595. ==================================================== we would be interested in hearing from anyone who thinks this might be connected to them.. please email direct rplong@rcip.com Notify Administrator about this message?
