While I'm looking into my own ancestors from upstate New York, I'll keep an eye open for a Louis or Lewis and let you know if I find anything. Frankly, I'm finding that area/time period the most difficult!

I also just ordered a book that covers Acadians who managed to make it to Québec during the time of the Deportations. I understand that it covers both the Upper and Lower Richelieu River areas, so maybe it will offer some leads for both of us. Keep your fingers crossed! :o)
