You must remember that Sancho Garces Abarca lived over a thousand years ago. The stories of his birth are legends. They may have some basis in fact. But they may also be totally made up.
My source for these stories is the wonderful web pages for the history of the Abarca family run by Guillermo Abarca Gonzalez. Run a search for his web site on Google. He keeps moving servers. I think he is currently on three different servers. It is not difficult to find. However, you will need to be able to read Spanish to enjoy his site.
