Hi Jacques, glad to hear from you. John B. Abarr was born either in Canada or France. He moved to the US when he was a boy according to family history. He was in the war of 1812 at Ft. Williams, near Childersburg, AL. After the war he Married Rhoda Wilson in Columbia, Maury Co., TN in 1815. They settled in Gallatin Co., IL. He died somewhere near St. Louis, MO (drowned). I know his name was changed by (probably a English Capt) when entering the US. From all the info I have gathered it was changed to from Hebert to Abar. Then later someone added an extra "r" on the end.
