hello jean,
i am not sure if i have contacted you on another site.
this message is just incase i have not already done so.
i am descended from maria (abba) and richard saltmer and have been looking for her bt and parents for several years without success.
i feel that the answer is so close as there seems to be only one family of this name in scarborough at this time having children.
the ealiest mention of abba that i have found is 1794 and this is the bt of a william abba in st. mary's scarborough. he is the son of john and ann.
i have not yet found their marriage.
in 1756 there is a mention of a henry abba who was master and part owner of a boat called friendship.

i have lots of other bit and pieces in my abba file but none of them tie up the lose end and add maria to all the info i have!

we are not the only ones looking for her, someone MUST come up with tha answer eventually.
happy hunting
tina (morgan, nee bradley)
