My great grandmother was Jennie Abbate b. Nov. 24, 1889 in or around Palermo. Her parents were Frank Abbate and Catherine Romano. Jennie married Jospeh Valentino also from in or around Palermo. Them immigrated to the United States around 1910. When Jennie and Joseph immigrated three of Jennie's sisters - Francis, Anna and Mary(or Marie)-- came with them. The fifth child of Frank and Catherine, a girl named Catherine, remained in Sicily with her parents. Unfortunately this is all the information I have been able to gather from my grandmother as Jennie died in 1937 when my grandmother was still a teenager. Does any of this sound familiar? If so would love to talk further.
