I don't think there a connection, but my father Vincenzo Abbate was from Licata, Sicily. He is the son of Salvatore Abbate born in Caltinesetta, Sicily February 7, 1873. His mother was Francesca Grillo from Licata. I am in search of their records from Italy. Vincent had 2 sisters. Hope to hear from you.
