To these remarks we can add those of Paolo Abbate, an Italian sculptor who became a congregational minister. He advocated the use of stained glass windows, and other media to welcome the artist as a member and fellow worker in the Church Universal. He strongly advocated stained glass windows even for the Georgian and Colonial Churches of America, remarking: "Chartres needs no announced subject matter, it brings in colors and light directly to the consciousness of anyone who has a place for it."
