Found via Google search engine: Paulo Abbate sculptor....
To these remarks we can add those of Paolo Abbate, an Italian sculptor who became a congregational minister. He wrote, "How far would we have traveled in search of God without the inspiring minds and creative hands of the architect, the sculptor, the poet and the musician? Before the Reformation, Art became the Bible of the people. By repudiating most of the arts, the Reformed church has been turned into a desert bareness. The religious services are also thin and cold. He advocated the use of stained glass windows, and other media to welcome the artist as a member and fellow worker in the Church Universal. He strongly advocated stained glass windows even for the Georgian and Colonial Churches of America, remarking: "Chartres needs no announced subject matter, it brings in colors and light directly to the consciousness of anyone who has a place for it."
