In the name of God Amen, I PETER ROUTT of Stafford County, being sick but of perfect sense do make this my last will and testament. First I bequeth my soul to God, and my body to the earth..worldy Estate I give..
Item, I give to Son PETER ROUTT and my Son JOHN ROUTT and JAMES ROUTT each of them a new feather bed and furniture, and each of them a Cow and Calf, and each of them a Sow and Pigs, and each of them a Ewe and Lamb,and each of two dishes and half a dozen plates.
Item, I give to my Son WILLIAM ROUTT one Mullato Boy named Frances Lynrum to him and heirs.
Item, I give to my daughter HANNAH WITHERS one mulatto girl named Margaret Lynrum to her and her heirs.
Item, I give to my loving Wife MARTHA ROUTT during her natural life the Plantation I now live on, and all the land there unto belonging consisting of 250 acres, and after her decease I give it to my Son WILLIAM ROUTT and heirs of his body lawfully begotten forever.
Item, Item I give to my three sons PETER ROUTT and JOHN ROUTT and JAMES ROUTT, a parcel and tract of land lying upon the great of Rappahanock, consisting of 663 acres to be equally divided into three parts, and JOHN ROUTT to have his first choice, and PETER ROUTT and JAMES ROUTT to cast lots for choice.
Item, I give it them and heirs.. and if either of them lack such heirs, his part to be divided between the other two Survivors, all the rest of my Estate, be it real or personal I leave to my loving wife MARTHA ROUTT, during her natural life, and after her decease, I give to my five children, to WILLIAM ROUTT, to PETER ROUTT, and JOHN ROUTT, and to JAMES ROUTT, my daughter HANNAH WITHERS, to be equally divided between them, and I do appoint my Wife MARTHA ROUTT, and my Son WILLIAM ROUTT, Executors of this.. 25th March 1765.
