Tax records at scottish archives.

Does anyone know if the records for hearth taxes, farm taxes and servant taxes exist at the scottish records office and if so what sort of detail can I expect to find in them. I am missing the records of the birth of my 4 x great grandfather (i have date and place) and hope that as I know where he was born I might be able to find his parents from the tax records.or father at least.
