Hello Adrian
I have some possible information and also possible connection with Ambrose ABERDEEN.
With Christmas fast aproaching, I haven't got time to sort it out and send it now. Will post it in the New Year once the Christmas things are packed away. If you don't hear from me by the middle of January, then give me a reminder.
Just two questions which would confirm whether we have a connection -
Does your information about his place of birth come from the 1881 census?
Do you have his marriage certificate?, and does it name his father as Gilbert ABERDEEN?

PS So pleased to find somebody else researching the name atlast
