William and family arrived in Wilkes county
at least by 1786. He purchased 600 acres
on the Broad river. He died in 1796 and
the Will states how he devided everything
among his children.
William's children and grandchildren were
active in Wilkes,Green,Talliaferro,Warren,
and columbia counties' development.

William's brother,Issac,stayed in Warren
county,North Carolina and died about 1816.

William's brother,John,raised his family
in Bertie county,North Carolina and the
acrees who went on to Tennessee and Kentucky
were from John's family.
