I am also looking for Acree kin of Cherokee blood. My great grandfather was named Jack Acree. He was supposed to be full-blood Cherokee. He was reported to be 106 when he died in 1963, placing his birth about 1857.Family rumor says either his parents or he AND his parents came to Oklahoma during the Trail of Tears. He is buried in Lake Village AR with his second wife. His first wife is my great grandmother and her name was supposed to have been Cora.she is also supposed to be full-blood Cherokee. Nothing else is known about Cora. After her and Jack divorced, she left, leaving Myrtle Marie, (my grandmother) and a son Joseph with her husband. She is believed to have taken a third child, a girl with her. Joseph was killed in Lake Village or Little Rock AR when a mule threw him.The history we have on Jack has him living in Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma. His Daughter, Myrtle married a man from Searcy AR (Hubert Hodges)Jack may have used the name Jesse prior to marrying his second wife, Mable Atkins. We have traced his second wife to the Cherokee roles, but as she is only Myrtle's step-mother, it doesn't help much.
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Thanks,
Jammie
