I match several of your Acrees. The counties you mentioned in Georgia also match. The will of William is the same that I have. My line goes from William (I) to John Allen to Wylley to Allen to James Clayton to Robert Walter to Walter Richard to me: Rebecca. There is another branch in Texas descended from Wylley. My great grandfather, James Clayton moved to Texas to join his Great Uncle Wylley after the death of his first wife, Frances Kesler in Banks County Georgia. He had two more wives and eventually moved back to Georgia where he died. I have not been able to prove the Cherokee tie in the last 30 years. When William (I) received his land grant in Wilkes County, Georgia, Acrees moved to Georgia from North Carolina and Virginia. Wilkes, Green, Franklin, Banks, and Habersham Counties had been Cherokee and Creek land so it is possible. I just can't find the link. Would love to have any info you have. I can mail you copies of county histories which contain church records, if you will send me your address at my msn address.
