Hello. My husband's connections to the Acrey name and Georgia go back to John Acrey, his grandfather, who came to Arkansas around the beginning of the last century. John Acrey, his wife and his young family came on a steam engine train to central Arkansas. John was married to Mattie Ketchum and had two daughters when they left Georgia around about 1902. Later on a son Joe and three more daughters were born to this couple. They lived and died in White County, Arkansas. According to what I have been told, those Acre/Acree folks at Georgetown in White County were John's cousins. I believe John's parents were William and Margaret Cleveland Cash Acree. That spelling of the surname is what we found when on their grave marker when we went to Georgia back in the early 80's. All of this was around Dalton, Georgia. The cousins we found at that time all said the family was from Banks County, Georgia. Does anyone have some input to share? Thanks- Linda Notify Administrator about this message?
