William son of Abner/Absolem of Meriwether Co, Ga b. 1835

When Abner moved his family as listed in the 1850 Meriwether, Ga census to Nagodoches, Tx, his son William apparently did not go as he is missing from the 1860 census in Nagodoches. I am trying to prove that he moved to the Sand Mountain area of Alabama and started his own family. I have a possibility in Cleburne County, Al but the 1870 census lists him and family as William Avery etal. I am trying to tie him to my grandfather Henry Acree of Carrol Co. Ga before 1878-9 when Henry reportedly left home. Thanks for any blanks you can fill in.
