It's generally accepted that the Absalem Acrey family in the Merriwether Co. GA census of 1850 is the same family identified as the Abner Acre family in the Nacogdoches, TX 1860 census. Assuming that the Abe listed in TX is Abner, Jr. then A.C. was not listed in the Ga. census in 1850. He may have been a nephew that moved with the Abner family. As best that I can sort it out, sons James, Sherrod, and William did not go with the family. An unnamed infant was in the 1850 census that was probably the Sallust named in the 1860 TX census. Sherrod is still my main interest until I find out for sure if he is the great-grandfather that I am looking for. I still think you should contact Chuck about the DNA list. I notice that he has a note posted on this bulletin board a few notes after this posting. Happy hunting.
