Sally~
Thank you so very much...yes, the info helps tremendously.I'll get a copy of the Newman Ward book. The Stephen H. Adsit I was looking for was born 22 Mar 1794 and died 7 Nov 1876 in Deerfield, Wisconsin.I was hoping that he was my g-g-g-grandfather Josiah's older brother (Josiah b. 9 Dec 1797).I had estimated from various census records that Josiah's birthdate was 1798.I know from the census he was born in NY state. In your estimation, what are the odds that another Josiah Adsit could have been born on 9 Dec 1797???Do I simply assume that the Josiah mentioned in the Ward book is my ancestor?I know assumptions aren't scientifically valid.Suggestions? Thanks for your timely replies, Sally.
Jan
