Thanks for the speedy reply. Maybe I should post Mortimer on the Adsit message board.
Do any of your branch have their own burial grounds?The Adsits of Deerfield are buried on the family farm.The cemetery is big enough to bury at least 8 but as you stated only Stephen, his wife Betsy and their bachlor son Allen Eugene are buried there. I understand from a relative in Connecticut that the first John had his own plot on the origional homestead too.I wonder if this is an old family practice.Strange..Have you discovered if your branch had a particular religion?The branch at Deerfield were supposedly atheists. Myth has it that they had a falling out with the Catholic Church but I haven't been able to confirm this.All in all, an interesting group!Thanks again,Sally
