Sally~
I know a TON about the Brooks line. They were very early settlers of Massachusetts (1630s)...very interesting bunch with some terrific credentials. They spread out from MA, into CT, into NY, into WI, then into MN, and on to ND. I don't know if Mariah had brothers and sisters.I don't know her last name...I don't even know if it's Mariah or Maria...I have a copy of a marriage vow and on it her name is spelled Mariah Adsitt. So that's what I've always gone on.Haggard Point, eh?? Wow.Makes me wonder how they used to pronounce Adsit (Ageet, Adseet, Adget, etc.!!!! HA) in those days.Too bad about Mortimer.I know how frustrating that can be.What is the Hack Cemetery?Where is Monroe County?I would contact the Historical Society nearest the unused cemetery and ask them how to find sexton's records.Or maybe they're kept in the files in the County Offices.
