Hi Susannah,
My wife's line goes back to William Aedy, married in Finchley in 1780. Haven't traced him back beyond that, but noted two Aedy families in Kent, and trying to link into those. Family 1 : Henry Aedy, shoemaker, born 1805, lived in Hythe, Kent but not necessarily born there (First child born in New Romney, Kent). Family 2 : Thomas Eady (whose grandchildren spelled it Aedy), agricultural labourer, born 1801 in Brook, Kent (First child born in New Romney, Kent, like Henry's). No link yet found to William of Finchley (nor to each other). If any of this rings a bell, please get in touch. My address is still danlyon @
