Mark,
My name is James M Agnew, Jr. (Jim) and I live in Walker County, Ga. The John Agnew you are looking for may be the John and Mary who got our farm in the 1832 land lottery or it may be one of his sons. In the Trinity Methodist Church Cemetery there is a marker with John Agnew b 9-23-1833 d 5-24-1899 on one side and M V Agnew b 10-6-1857 d 2-4-1923 on the other. He is probably a son of John and Mary since my ancestor was James Agnew b & d unknown but his wife Sarah Lumpkin was born 1830 d 1911. I think he was a civil war veteran and lost a leg in the war.(no facts just old stories)
Anyway, other markers near that area with the Agnew name are: "Charles Agnew Family" around a group of what looks like previously unmarked graves. William Marvin Agnew b 6-25-1905 d 11-21-1928. Other Agnew names that are not in my line and I have never heard their names in conversation are Ettna May Agnew 12-14-1902 d 7-9-1918; J Harold Agnew b 1-19-1911 d 3-27-1945; C T Agnew 8-3-1870 d 7-4-1938 looks like may have been married to Eula H Agnew b 2-28-1876 d 7-5-1959. Maybe these names and dates will help someone,
Jim Agnew
