Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
I saw this on E-bay and thought someone from this family might be intersted.
"A German language bible, both Old and New Testament, published in St. Louis, Missouri. 1881. 1079 + 311 pages. The book measures 5 1/2 by 7 5/8 inches. The page edges are marbled. The covers are a beautiful decorative black leather. I included a couple of close up scans to try to show the small detail. The spine edge at the front cover is split for 3 inches from the top down. I would imagine this could be repaired without too much trouble. It doesn't show in the scan. There is a slightly faded ink name on the blank front end page, probably the original owner. The preliminary pages show a little bit of foxing as does the title page. The vast majority of pages, however, are nice and clean. At the beginning of the New Testament section is a little geneological information. I have put this in a scan hoping some possible descendant might recognize a name...John Ahrens, Gertrude Warren and Jessie Bowen. Note that Warren Ahrens and Jessie Bowen were married on Jan. 19, 1916, in Salamanca, NY. In pencil on the inside of the rear cover is the name John Ahrens of East Otto, in Cattaraugus County, New York. The winning bidder pays $3.75 for Media (Book) Rate shipping or $5.50 for Priority Mail."
