Charles Ahrens Sr. (1835-1899) ran the grist mill for many years in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was a prominent citizen. He was the son of Andrew and Mary Ahrens. He married in 1855, Maria Wieck. They immigrated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin from Mecklenberg-Schwerin in 1856. They had children John, Mary (Mrs. Henry Zimdars), Charles T., Hermann, Wilhelmina (Mrs. Johann Heidtke), Louisa (Mrs. Conrad K. Hahn, and Ella (Mrs. Tillman Armfield). A picture of his mill and house (furthest left house in the picture) is posted on-line at www.jsonline.com/desk/histwis/archive4.asp

I would love to correspond with any descendants/cousins.

Thor Swanson
Sioux City, Iowa
Formerly of South Milwaukee, Wisconsin
