STAUNTON - Edward H. Ahrens, 84, of Staunton died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Staunton.

He was born March 23, 1922, in Olive Township, the son of Edwin H. and Gertrude Arnold Ahrens. He married Elsie Sievers in 1947; she died in 1996.

Mr. Ahrens was an auctioneer, real estate salesman and a farmer.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Hamel, National, Illinois and Missouri Auctioneers Associations, Anti-Theft Association and Madison County Farm Bureau. He was past director of First Community State Bank of Staunton.

Survivors: two sons, Gerald (wife, Beverly) Ahrens of Glen Carbon and Dennis (wife, Kathleen) Ahrens of Staunton; daughter, Cheryl (husband, Joseph) Meade of Staunton; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Aaron (wife, Shirley) Ahrens of Staunton; sister, Marie (husband, Vernon) Mindrup of Alhambra; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Hamel, the Rev. William Weedon officiating. Burial: Spangle Cemetery near Livingston.

Williamson Funeral Home in Staunton is in charge of arrangements.
