My Great Grandmother was what would be known as a "corker" She married a Mr. Stofer and had one child Celestia Lee in Indiana. Mr. Stofer is said to have died in Tacoma Wa while waiting at the train station for his wife and child. She then wound up in Calif. married to a Mr. Rascoph, a fireman during the Great Earthquake. Next I find her living in Nome Alaska, under the name Wright ( I have a legal paper with her name as Wright, nee Rascoph from Nome.) This was in 1912. The family history says she was the Madam of a bothel while her husband ran the saloon downstairs. At the time of her death in the 1950's she was married to George West and living in Tacoma. Does anyone out there live in Nome who can possibly confirm her history as a Madam, via history books or newspapers from there?
