Looking for any information on Peter Steinmetz who went to Valdez, Alaska during the Gold Rush in 1889. Had a claim in Glacier Island and sold it a year later for $1000. He was listed as a livery/prospector on a census. Would like to know what became of him. The Steinmetz name is spelled in variation of what it is.
Also looking for John Steinmetz, brother to Peter. He also went to the Gold Rush at the same time but went to another place never to be heard of again. These are lost family members.
I have a death certificate for a Peter Steinmetz, son of Mathis Steinmetz. He died at 19 yrs of age in Portland Oregon.( If he is of any interest to you, I will give this death certificate to you.)......Thanks, webhillwalkers@charter.net
