Ancestor who died in Alaska Before 1939-Skeeters

My ancestor Benjamin Hardin Skeeters from Kentucky joined the army and went to Alaska where he died before 1939. I don't know if he was still in the Army at that time or not.
HOW can I get any kind of info on him while in Alaska. How many Army bases are there in Alaska? He is supposed to be buried there also. How do I go about finding where and when. There is no way I will ever make it there so I am relying on a kind sole to help me on this illusive ancestor.
