Seeking help with Baldwin County VAUGHNs
Posted by: John Bush (ID *****2274) Date: September 03, 2005 at 12:30:19

On October 22, 1866 J. M. VAUGHN sold two tracts of land in Baldwin County. One tracet (722-H) was sold to Joseph B. and Caroline A.Vaughn. (She was a COOPER.) The second (724-H) was sold to Benjamin F. and Harriett J. Vaughn. (She, too, was a Cooper; they were sisters, married to Vaughn brothers.) Who is J. M. Vaughn? Is he the same as James M. Vaughn who made many other transactions in Baldwin County in the 1850s-60s? How is he related to Joseph B. and Benjamin F? Who are parents of these Cooper sisters? (I know that Joseph B. was CAPTAIN J. B. Vaughn of the 15th Alabama Cavalry, and I know a good bit about his military career. I know where he, his brother and their wives are buried. But who were their parents, and how are they connected to J.M. / James M. of Baldwin County
