1840 United States Federal Census Record Name: James Wood Township: Not Stated County: Benton State: Alabama This James Wood btw 30 & 40, married btw 30 & 40, had eight sons, 1 under the age of 20 and one young daughter. Could this have been a father of this James Wood? Name: James C Wood Age: 36 Estimated birth year: abt 1814 Birth place: South Carolina Gender: Male Home in 1850 (City,County,State): Subdivision 30, Benton, Alabama Name: James Wood Estimated Birth Year: abt 1812 Age in 1870: 58 Birthplace: South Carolina Home in 1870: Township 8, Pontotoc, Mississippi Family and neighbors: View Results Race: White Post Office: Popler Springs Only Mary, Rebecca and Martha living with father James Wood. Did see a 20-21 yr old James Wood with wife Sarah living in Popler Springs nearby, could this be one of the sons. There is a James Wood living 1880 in Montgomery County, Texas as father-in-law in J. R. Ratliff household and I am wondering if the wife/dau "R.E." could have been daughter Rebecca but the age may be off unless I figures wrong, James born South Carolina and both parents born Virginia according to 1880 census but the wife/dau says she was born Alabama which would have been correct for her but then the father is listed as being born in NC while he says for himself South Carollina, wonder who gave info.......this may not be the correct James Wood at all. Age is nearly correct as well as place of birth and was a widower. Name: James Wood Age: 67 Estimated birth year: <1813> Birthplace: South Carolina Occupation: Farmer Relationship to head-of-household: Father-in-law Home in 1880: Precinct 4, Montgomery, Texas Marital status: Widower Race: White Gender: Male Father's birthplace: VA Mother's birthplace: VA Notify Administrator about this message?
