Paint Rock - Blue Mountain Lookup Etc. Request

I am hoping for a look-up but also some information about the Paint Rock and Blue Mountain area.
My great-grandfather and wife had many children and according to family (long since gone) lived in Paint Rock around 1880 and Blue Mountain possibly 1880-1900. However I just found out that they are two separate places. Is this true or is there a Blue Mountain near Paint Rock? Paint Rock is in Jackson County and Blue Mountain is in Calhoun County. These folks also lived in Madison County.
One of the reasons I am asking is that I am taking a genealogy trip there in a few days between May 4 and May 14th of this year. My cousin is coming with me and we hope to be able to locate our great-grandfathers grave and the places he lived with his large family before they moved to Arkansas around 1900.
Also I have a question about Township, Section and Range. The 1880 census stated they lived in Jackson County in Fractional T3-R3 E. I am unsure what Fractional means. Is there a way to determine where this was located in Jackson County? I think it may be near Paint Rock.
Is there anyone in Paint Rock or Blue Mountain that we can connect with who may be able to assist us in our search of the area for our families’ history? Is there a genealogy society or library that is particularly good in this area?
Lots of questions but we greatly appreciate any help! Tena
