Source: The Oxford News Oxford, Alabama Date: October 14, 1948 Funeral Services Held for Mr. Draper Funeral services for Edgar Brown Draper, 63, lifetime resident and well known citizen of Oxford, who died early Saturday morning at Anniston Memorial Hospital after a short illness, were held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, at First Methodist Church, with Rev. James E. Elliott officiating and assisted by J. O. Colley of Albertville. Usrey was in charge and burial was in the Snow Cemetery. Mr. Draper was proprietor of the City Cafe, at the time of his death. He was formerly in the insurance business. He is survived by brother J. M. Draper, of Albertville, and a number of nieces and nephews. His brother, Hamp Draper, died in Wetumpka and was buried in Oxford Cemetery, only a few days previous to the passing of "Brownie". He was a member of the Methodist Church, was honest and honorable in all his dealings with his fellow man and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, and the mass of flowers testified the love of this close friends. Pallbearers were: Walter Kerr, Hill Powell, J. M. Horn, B. A. Adams, Mark Pettus and Julian Howle. Honorary pallbearers: Hemphill Whiteside, Mayor of Oxford, Frank McCraw, Bryant Jones, Carl Pace, Howard Worthy, Howard Bentley, Fred Mayne, Dr. P. A. Mitchell, R. F. Lamar, Sam Hallman, Harry Griffin, M. G. Christian, J. H. Phillips, Frank Butenschon, Sr., Dr. Tom Blake Howle, G. C. Gilliland, Carl Strength, Kyle Hulsey, Norman Moores, Willie Robertson, Y. O. Lybrand, Walter Kerr, Jim Griffin, F. D. Davie, Frank Aderhold, Sam Sharp, Dr. C. W. Hastings, J. H. Harwood, Frank Miller, D. H. Henderson, F. L. Hulsey, and C. H. Ward.
