Just ran across this tidbit of info for those who are interested in the Streight Raid, http://history-sites.com/mb/cw/alcwmb/index.cgi?read=27749
Concerning the Lawrence House, does anyone know why Col Lawrence was called Col. Was it an honorary title? Seems I have read somewhere that he volunteered for the Mexican War and was a Sgt or Cpl, maybe even breveted Lt but I can't seem to find anything.
