My father-in-law's parents were Curtis McCloskey Odom & Hattie B. Moore Mosley. I requested Hattie's death certificate and it stated that she was the d/o Francis M. Mosley & Susan Elizabeth Sykes. Francis & Susan have been difficult for me to find in the census. I did stumble onto them listed in the 1900 census using usgenweb.com. I've been unable to locate them in 1910, 1920 or 1930. I don't believe they passed away aft. 1900 census but it's possible. Below is what I've found so far..... 1900 Census - ED 18, Township 10, Beat# 7, Choctaw County, AL - Page 295B - Sheet# 9B ED Date 6/20/1900 Dwelling# 157, Farm Schedule# 136 - Farm owned but mortgaged Francis M. Mosely - head - 34 (b. 11/1865 in AL) - married 12 yrs - farmer - both parents b. AL Sousan E. - wife - 27 (b. 10/1872 in AL) - married 12 yrs - 6 children & all still living - both parents b. AL Pearl - dau - 11 (b. 4/1889 in AL) - at school Francis E. - son - 9 (b. 2/1891 in AL) Chester - son - 7 (b. 1/1893 in AL) Nettie F. - dau - 4 (b. 9/1895 in AL) Hattie B. M. - dau - 2 (b. 1/1898 in AL) Lora Blize - dau - 3 months (b. 3/1900 in AL) Lived on adjoining farms to John S. Sikes & Benjamin F. Carlise I was thinking that the John S. Sikes (neighbor to Francis) might be his brother-in-law. I also found Hattie listed with a relative in Perry County, AL 1900 Census - Severe Best, Precinct 8, Perry County, AL Dwelling#118, House Colwell, William L. - head - DOB Nov 1848 - age 51 - married 30 years - born in MS - father born in LA - mother born in AL - occupation (Ng. 0-2-2?) Levina A. - wife - DOB May 1844 - age 56 - married 30 years - 5 children and all still living - born in GA - both parents born in GA Maryann J. - daughter - DOB Jan 1875 - age 25 - widowed - 1 child and still living - born in AL Margaret E. - daughter - DOB Oct 1878 - age 21 - widowed - born in AL Mosley, Hattie - niece - DOB Feb 1898 - age 2 - born in AL I'm unsure why Hattie is in both households in 1900 unless she was just visiting. I've not had any luck looking up Francis Marion Mosley & Susan Elizabeth Sykes prior to 1900 so I've been unable to locate their parents or siblings (if any). ANY help would be greatly appreciated. I live in TN and unable to haunt the AL courthouses. Below is what I've been able to locate on Hattie & Curtis per their death certificates. HATTIE B.
