Does anyone know the ancestors or descendants of Thomas and Elizabeth/Lizzie?
They are listed in the 1870 census along with one child Mary in Choctaw county Alabama. Two doors away is 4 yr old Hattie Tarvin and her mother and siblings. Hattie is my great grandmother who married James Gaston Tanner. What relationship, if any, is James Gaston Tanner to Thomas Tanner? Thomas is shown to be 24 yrs in 1870. James Gaston Tanner would have been 16 yrs at the time. Are they brothers?
The census also shows that Thomas' father was born in Virginia. So far I have not been able to find a 16 yr old James in the 1870 census.
Can anyone help me?
