Mary, I live north of the city of Cullman, in Morgan County, and have puzzled over your posting for some time. I talked to a young lady at the Cullman County Sheriff's Department today and came up with the only thing close to what you are looking for.

There isn't currently a place in Cullman County called Koenigs.....not saying there wasn't one in 1880, there may have been.

There is a community called HOENIG. I wonder if your K isn't actually an H !! Hoenig is located southwest of the city of Cullman, near the town of Good Hope. Hope this helps!
