Rick, I haven't looked into Walker county. Thanks for your suggestion. My 'lost' McGlathery ancestors are : [1] Darling McGlathery b. after 1806, probably in South Carolina and died: after 1879, probably Alabama [2] his wife, Matilda [Nelson] McGlathery unknown dates or location [3] their daughter, Georgia Ann McGlathery Lewis, born: abt. 1851-1854, most likely in Alabama and died: 23 October 1873 at unknown location [4] her husband, Willian H. Lewis [son of H. F. T. Lewis] born: 1853, GA or AL and died: 14 Feb 1876. --- Darling and Matilda were my 3rd great grandparents. They had 11 or 12 known children. Their daughter, Georgia Ann, married William Hubbard Lewis, of the Blountsville & Koenigs/Hoenig area Lewis family from our 1880 census postings. Wm. H. Lewis was the son of Henry Felix Turner LEWIS, who's buried at Salem Primitive Baptist Church cemetery near Brooksville, in Blount County, Alabama. H F T Lewis family migrated to Alabama from Georgia. He served as constible during the Civil War era. I havent located burial data for Darling & Matilda McGlathery. Georgia Ann McGlathery Lewis died following childbirth. Her daughter was reared by Wm. & his Lewis siblings until he died a few years later.Pat. aunt, Mary Lewis then reared Nora, the dau of Georgia Ann McGlathery and Wm H. Lewis. She is a young girl living at Koenigs/Hoenig in 1880. Nora Lewis[ Orena Eleanora Lewis] married James E. Miller in Cullman County. They are buried at New Mt. Moriah cemetery in Blount County, Alabama. It is unknown where Mary Lewis, paternal aunt, is buried. She lived w/ the widowed Nora in Blount Co. through 1910 census. Family bible/book states Mary LEWIS died in Feb 1929. It has been postulated that where ever we find Mary Lewis we will also find the rest...Georgia ANN McGlathery, her husband Wm. H. Lewis, and Georgia Ann's parents, Darling & Matilda. Of course, this family tradition could refer to the land we believe may be underwater today, however, since there IS a McGlathery cemetery they could indeed be located there. Since we hadn't looked in that area, we had no idea one existed. I appreciate your offer to look into this matter. Encouraging to imagine the possibilities. Kindest regards, M
