Funeral services were held April 26, 1965 for P. E. Davis, who was killed in a railway accident about 1 mile from Olin, Illinois. The accident occurred April 23 as he was returning home on the train after leaving his truck at Champaign, Illinois for the weekend. He was 42 years of age. Mr. Davis was born near Tremont. He had been engaged as a trucker all of his life and was employed by Lee Montgomery Trucking Co., of Red Bay. He was hauling freight between Red Bay and Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Davis served 60 months in the U. S. Army during World War II, serving most of the time in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He attended school at Tremont and Red Bay. Services were said from the Red Bay Church of Christ with burial in the Red Bay Cemetery.
Survivors included his wife, Mrs. Edna Mae Howell Davis, (daughter of William B. Howell of Fulton), to whom he had been married for 18 years; two children, Charles Edward, 12, and Janice, 10; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Davis of Red Bay.
