Charles Ross Weatherford Jr., 70, died Jan. 29, 2009, at the University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham. He was born April 10, 1938, in Alabama to Charles Ross Weatherford Sr. and Mary Blyss Moody Weatherford. He was retired from Reynolds Metals Co. after 20 years and was currently employed with Cashion Thermoplastics in Red Bay, Ala.
He was a former mayor of Vina, Ala., and a former member of the Vina Water and Gas Board. He was a member of the Vina First Baptist Church and the Burleson Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of AluminumWorkers Local 200.
Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in Burleson Cemetery in Vina.
Survivors included two sons, Charles Ross Weatherford III (Lesia) of Fayette, Ala., and William Eugene Weatherford (Donna) of Red Bay; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Fancher Weatherford; his parents; and a sister, Mary Irene Bullen.
