PHILLIPSBURG, Mo. - Elmer W. Griffus, 67, died Sunday, March 15, 2009, at Christian Health Care in Hermitage, Mo. He was born Aug. 25, 1941, in Red Bay, Ala., to Byrd and Ruby Elrod Griffus. He lived in Alabama before moving to Phillipsburg a few years ago. He worked for Dean Foods for several years. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
Services were at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery in Vina, Ala. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included his wife, Mary Griffus; two sons, Michael Griffus and Stephen Griffus, both of Olive Branch; one stepson, Chadwick Spradling, serving with the U.S. Navy; and three granddaughters and three stepgrandsons.
