John William Mobley, 80, died March 29, 2009, at the Helen Keller Hospital. He was born June 29, 1928, in Vina, Ala., to Sterling and Ludie Peck Mobley. He attended Bible College in Springfield, Mo., for two years. He was a member of Vina First Baptist Church and an employee of Mueller Brass for 47 years. He leaves a great legacy as a servant of God. He always showed great wisdom and discernment, teaching many through instruction, and his own example, to love and follow God. He served several churches throughout the years as a deacon, songleader and Sunday School teacher. He also helped start many churches while living in Illinois. He always worked hard wherever he saw the need and showed love and kindness as a truly great son, brother, husband, father, granddaddy, popaw and friend. Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in the Red Bay City Cemetery. Survivors included his wife of 61 years, Elois Mobley of Red Bay; four children, Linda Garrison (Danny), John Thomas Mobley (Tracy) and Leisa Mobley, all of Red Bay, and Deborah Verchot (Ed) of Springfield, Va.; one brother, Hubert Mobley of Lexington, Ky.; one sister, Eulajean Hester of Vina, Ala.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters, Ralph Mobley, Edith Osbirn, Wilburn Sterling Mobley, Elizabeth Moomaw, Frances Griswold, Nellie McDonald, Jack Mobley and Charles Mobley.
