VINA, Ala. – Lucille Horton, 94, died April 17, 2009, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born Jan. 11, 1915, in Franklin County, Ala., to James Benton and Georgia Stout Gober. She was an employee of Blue Bell for 25 years and a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church.
Services were April 19 at Burnout Missionary Baptist Church in Vina with burial in Burnout Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay was in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors included three children, Roy Horton (Maxine) of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Bob Horton and James Horton, both of Burnout; one sister, Lois McCalpin of Cooper, Texas; two brothers, Marlin Gober (Christine) and Burlion Gober (Willie Mae), both of Burnout; seven grandchildren, Pam Andrews (David), Melissa Self (Mike), Sandy Wilson (Blake), Eric Horton, Gina Raper (Donald), Tony Horton (Lynette) and Tammy Duncan (Byron); 13 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy A. Horton; her parents; and a daughter-in-law, Ruby Horton.
