Red Bay, Ala. – Clarissa Clara Mills, 87, died April 28, 2009, at the Care Center of Red Bay. She was born Dec. 10, 1921, in Itawamba County to Stephen Laton and Tyrena Mayhall Chesnutt. She attended the Church of God.
Services were May 1 at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in Butler Cemetery at Golden.
Survivors included one daughter, Clara Delores Daily (Keith) of Red Bay; one grandson, Dr. Josiah Daily (Shannon) of Cullman, Ala.; one great-grandson, Josiah Carter Daily; a special daughter-in-law, Fleta Mills Swiney (Samuel) of Red Bay; three stepdaughters, Inez Prestage of Madison, Ala., Jeanette Orrick of Red Bay and Mary Boozer (F.B.) of Smithville; one stepson, W.T. Mills (Bobbie Sue) of Zion, Ill.; one niece, Jonie, and three nephews, Danny, Steve and Kelly.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver Mills; a granddaughter, Clarissa Hope Daily; two stepsons, Herbert Mills and Morris Mills; a stepdaughter, Minnie Gillette; and two brothers, Sherman Chesnutt (Susie) and John K. Chesnutt.
