Edith Mae Strickland Black, 78, died May 27, 2009, at Helen Keller Hospital. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. She was an employee at Lance Garment Co. and Golden Manufacturing for many years.
Services were at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with burial in Cedar Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors included her daughter, Susan Hargett (Dwain) of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; son, Bruce Black (Charlotte) of Red Bay; four grandchildren, Christopher Hargett (Julie) of Bloomington, Ill., Channing Black (Kristin) of Winter Park, Fla., Chadrick Black (Dana) of Lewisburg, Tenn., and Melanie Hargett Collum (Jon) of Muscle Shoals, Ala.; four great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Carson and Allie Black, and Saylor and Kate Collum; five sisters, Magilene Kuykendall of Red Bay, Ala., Betty Hacker and JoAnn Ragsdale of Russellville, Ala., Geneva Turner of Memphis and Jenny Strickland of Cypress Inn, Tenn.; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Trannie B Black; an infant daughter, Brenda Carolyn Black; and her parents, Thomas Aubrey and Edna Muriel Strickland.
