Gladys West Grimes, 85, died June 18, 2009, at the Care Center of Red Bay. She was born Nov. 21, 1923, in Alabama to James Arthur and Ethel Long Mitchell. She was a member of the Fulton Church of God of Prophecy and an avid mission worker. She was a seamstress for Itawamba Manufacturing Company for several years.
Services were June 20 at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Survivors included her husband, Albert Grimes of Red Bay, Ala.; three daughters, Martha Kidd of Fulton, Patsy Savage (Tommy) of Mooreville and Cathy Fulton (Bro. Grady) of Natchez; two sons, Bro. Billy West (Kathy) of Eggville and Mike West of Fulton; two stepdaughters, Lynette Norris (Chester) of Fulton and Janice Johnson (Bro. Hal) of Smithville; two stepsons, David Grimes and Donal Grimes (Becky) of Red Bay; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 15 stepgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Opal Strickland (Calvin) of Memphis; one brother, Cecil Mitchell (Lorene) of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Jack West, in 1998; and a sister.
